Oscars 2022: Will Smith slapped Chris Rock

The 2022 Oscars red carpet is finally here. While last year’s ceremony at Union Station in Los Angeles was curtailed due to the ongoing pandemic, the 2022 Oscars invite movie stars to once again gather at the Dolby Theater to celebrate the best films of the past year in person. In addition to the Oscars red carpet, this year’s show also shined.

The Oscars this year have been an amazing show as we are used to seeing every year. Actresses Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes presented this year’s awards. While Hall is known for her ability to play comedic roles in films, Schumer and Sykes are not only actresses, but stand-up comedians.

The eight categories of Documentary Shorts, Film Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Music, Production Design, Animated Shorts, Live Action Shorts and Sound were moved to one hour earlier, and the winners’ acceptance speeches were edited to the live broadcast at a later date.

The red carpet hosted a great amount of beautiful costumes and dresses as we used to make by incredible well known designers and fashion houses. Some of the best dressed personalities were: Jessica Chastain in Gucci, Nicole Kidman in Armani Privé, Zoë Kravitz in Saint Laurent, Vanessa Hudgens in Michael Kors Collection, Zendaya in Valentino.

Highlight of Oscar 2022

This year an incident took place between Chris Rock and Will Smith. Rock took the stage at the Oscars to present his best documentary. Staying true to his stand-up comedy form, he started barbs in the crowd. After making a joke about Denzel Washington, Rock turned his attention to Jada Pinkett Smith and said he was looking forward to starring with her in GI Jane II. Pinkett Smith and Demi Moore’s character in the 1997 film GI Jane, all with a buzz. But Pinkett Smith has been candid about her struggles with hair loss and bald spots caused by it.

Will Smith accepting speech

Later that night, Smith won his first Oscar for playing Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Williams in “King Richard.” In his acceptance speech, Smith apologized to the Academy and his other candidates and drew comparisons between himself and Williams, saying he stood up for his family. He apologized to the academy.

I want to apologize to all my contestants,” he said. He added “Like they say I look like a crazy dad, like they say Richard Williams. But love can make you do crazy things.” The moment sent the Dolby Theater into a shock panic and sparked a storm on Twitter.

This isn’t the first time Rock has made jokes about the couple at the Oscars. When Rock hosted the Oscars in 2016, he mentioned the couple’s ties to the #OscarsSoWhite boycott movement backed by Pinkett Smith. “Will Jada boycott the Oscars? Jada boycotted the Oscars like I boycotted Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited!” he said.

Locke appeared in the 1995 New Prince of Bel Air episode and dated Smith’s character one night. In 2011, Rock offered a routine about Smith on The Late Show with David Letterman, pretending to complain about the success of Smith’s children Jaden and Willow Smith. “The guy has taken parts from me. Now his kid has taken something from my kid. Will Smith, haven’t you had enough?” he told Letterman.

With every thing which appears to be building within this specific subject material, many of your points of view are quite refreshing. Even so, I beg your pardon, but I can not subscribe to your whole plan, all be it refreshing none the less. It would seem to us that your comments are not totally rationalized and in simple fact you are yourself not completely convinced of the assertion. In any event I did take pleasure in reading it.
